It's what everyone's been waiting for.
Well, I mean, so this paper in particular is just technically quite brilliant.
Like it's very hard to engineer all these different parts together.
So I think other researchers are just very impressed by this feat.
And it's also really cool because this way of building a cell from the ground up has not really been explored to the same extent as some other attempts to make artificial life.
So previously they've tried to take something already living and strip it back, take out genes until you get to just what is absolutely essential, the very minimal cell you need.
But as Kai says, living systems are incredibly complicated.
So this is just much more simple because you've built it all from scratch.
You know exactly what's there.
You've got this super clean system that you can study.
