Same way with a baby.
Like if you have a good process in place where maybe you and your spouse get together and review finances and talk about them.
Yes, it's going to be more difficult to do that after a baby.
And yes, expenses are going to go up.
But at least you have a process in place that allows you to review those things, go through them, and it becomes a habit, muscle memory that you will go back to over time and be able to maintain that.
If you have none of the discipline going into a big transition, it's going to be very, very difficult to kickstart that in the midst of the chaos that's happening.
The other component is if you have something like death or divorce that happens or
Unfortunately, in our business, Allie, we've walked people through a lot of this and we help them through these process.
And the number one thing I would say is don't feel like you have to make massive decisions in the midst of that.
A lot of the time we tell people six months to a year, don't make any big decisions.
Yeah.
And some decisions have to be made, but like buying a new house or moving across the country or various different things after a death or a divorce can cause you to dig a bigger hole than maybe is already there.
So taking the time to process through that to handle some of the smaller things before you make those massive, massive life decisions has been really sage advice that has helped a lot of people through that transition
Before you, oh, because this is happening, I'm doing this and then I'm doing that and then I'm doing that.
And we've seen it play out the other side where someone has, I mean, we've seen someone have a divorce that they then moved and then they moved to Florida and then they said, oh, I can't do this.
And now I got to sell this house in Florida and move to this.
And then by the time six months was over, the divorce actually didn't go through fully.
They got back together with their spouse and everything changed again.
So taking that time period, six months to a year, of just not making any massive life decisions, if you can, is a really helpful tool to use.
And Martin, I would encourage you, if you're in the midst of it, try to do that.
