I was still a teenager.

Yeah, so it was kind of scary.

And luckily, one of the interns at the studio who I had become friends with, shout out to Latroy Davis, he allowed me to sleep on an air mattress on his floor for a while until I figured things out.

But it was definitely a contentious time.

Um, so then the negotiations to, to sign with the record label that I liked, uh, began.

And, um, and my litigator, uh, told me that he and his wife would let me stay with them in Brooklyn until I figured out, you know, until the deal was done, which was, they're like angels.

And, um,

And I still live in New York to this day because of them.

So I love them so much.

But yeah, a turn of events happened where the production company that I was signed to

I mean, I'm not sure if this is actually for sure what happened, but I heard that they kind of gave them a very large bill of kind of all the sessions that I had done in their studio and said, if you want to sign her, then you need to pay us this huge bill because it was like the developmental process.

And I think that this label decided that that was just too far out of their budget, so they pulled the deal away.

Yeah.

And, um, yeah, so at that point I thought that I had lost any, any chance of getting signed.

It was kind of crazy.

Yeah.

But then, so they said, you probably lost your chance to sign with the label that they wanted me to sign to, but maybe you can have a conversation with the CEO and apologize and hopefully get it back.

And that experience was...

Yeah, just kind of humiliating because I felt like in order to get that deal back, I kind of needed to grovel and get yelled at by this person in order to get the record deal back.

So that's how I got that record deal.
