We're incredible players to play with.

I'm not going to deny that.

Okay.

But at the same time, I think there's a really good core here.

I think there's a fantastic, not really good.

I think there's a fantastic core here starting with the top two big guys.

So I do believe they can build around it.

And I think that's what Stan.

um Daryl Cates and Stan Bowman are trying to do right now they're trying to build around that core once again what Leon said two years with the contract remaining on Connor that's the window that's the window for them to go find the players they feel necessary to inject into this lineup to make it a contender once again and battle through it a year and look to try and make another run each and every time they go on the ice they're looking to be a little better but I look at the top players again and I say okay

If you're going to ask everybody else to be better defensively, then you're going to have to step up and be better defensively yourself.

And I know it's something that both Connor McDavid and Leon Dreissel worked on throughout their career, but there still are times, and I believe it's because of circumstances a lot where they feel they have to go out there and win the game for the team.

But it has to be from the top down to the bottom mentality.

That's how they're going to play the game.

And I do believe that's maybe where a veteran coach can come in here and get them to buy into that each and every night.

It's not going to be easy because it's going to be a change.

And there's going to be some suffering that goes along with it.

And we saw parts of that this year with Knobloch.

He tried to change that system to a similar one.

And there were times when they did play it, they looked really good.

And there were times when they got away from it or it wasn't quite perfect, they looked really bad.
