That gives you a sense of perspective.
On the other hand, if you're a healthcare professional or you have a personal experience, that is a version of expertise in the public sector that doesn't necessarily count.
Like I could write an article now about tuberculosis.
And if the New England Journal had any sense, they would not publish it.
Because what do I know about
You know, but like if I were to get it, I could write about it as an expert for the times and they might love
um, you know, or if I had a patient with it or something.
So you see, you have to kind of think like who who do you want to be talking to?
Also, like, are you trying to reach policymakers?
Are you trying to reach the public?
Are you trying to reach people in your local community?
Well then if you publish somewhere else, that's not going to be helpful.
Is this, is this issue really local or is it bigger than that?
Um on the other hand, we sometimes see um that you publish something locally and it gets picked up nationally because it resonates.
So don't assume that even if it's in you know that great journal, this you know, San Francisco Chronicle, as opposed to the New York Times, that it's not gonna make a difference because it really can.
Um
And and s I one of the mistakes I see, um, you know, which Roseanne sort of alluded to with don't send it to the New Orleans, um, is that people aim high and then they quit.
And that means it never gets published.
