You learned they wanted you.
So, yeah, I was 12 years old when I had sort of my first NRL clubs approach.
And that, you know, people always go, 12?
Like, what the hell?
But back when I was growing up, that wasn't that out of place and that was quite common.
the recruitment officers from Mineral Cubs would start looking at kids around that age.
So this wasn't, you know, I wasn't the, wasn't like a Lionel Messi or like I wasn't this, you know, absolute superstar freak or anything like that.
That was, that was sort of a bit more common back then.
They've changed the rules now so you can't do that anymore.
But,
I was at the Queensland State School Boys Carnival and a lot of the recruitment officers would go to that just to sort of, you know, pick up young talent or get their eyes across the young talent that was coming through.
And I was approached by a couple of different NRL clubs and after...
the carnival, you know, my parents sat me down and, because they approached my parents, you know, they're obviously not approaching a 12-year-old kid and they approached my parents and after the carnival, my parents said, you know, we've had this club and this club and this club approach us and talk about signing to a scholarship.
That's a huge thing.

What did it mean for you at that age?
It was very exciting.
When you're a 12-year-old kid and your dream is of being an NRL player, that's super exciting.
I was ecstatic about it.
