I need to escape from the world.
And the only way to do that was through drugs and alcohol.
And so I was abusing them very heavily at this point.
So I went on this massive three-day bender and it started in Canberra on a Friday and I found myself in Newcastle on a Sunday, you know, which is crazy in and of itself, which is psychotic.
And I woke up in Newcastle Monday morning.
And I was in such a bad way and I was just, I saw no way out.
Like I was just like, there's no, I'm in so much debt now.
My life is so completely and utterly destroyed that the only way out of this that I see is by ending my life.
Gee, Luke.
And I was, sorry, I was in, I was in Newcastle and I was sort of, I, I said that thing to myself, I said, well, I can, I can drive back to Canberra.
I'm already halfway to Brisbane and my mum lives in Brisbane and I need, I need my mum because my mum is my safe, my mum is my safe person and my safe place.
I was like, I need my mum.
And so I jumped in the car and drove to Brisbane.
I get to my mum's front door and knock on the front door and mum sort of opens the front door and mum's just like, you know, bewildered.
What are you doing here?
You live in Canberra.
You're not meant to be here.
And then I just collapsed and completely broke down and just said, mum, like, I need help.
What did help look like?
In the beginning, it was hard in the beginning because I was quite even, I was quite resistant to help because I still have this belief of, you know, I still have this belief of like I don't need, like I can't accept help.
