United States Central Command reported the first casualties of the operation Sunday morning.
The attack against Iran started the day before.
On Saturday, Iranian state media confirmed the death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
Iran vowed retaliatory strikes and launched missiles.
President Trump warned Iran against revenge, threatening on social media the U.S.
would, quote, "...hit them with a force that has never been seen before."
Central Command did not say when or where the U.S.
troops were killed and seriously injured.
It did report that several other soldiers sustained shrapnel injuries and concussions.
