So it's going to have a huge effect for couples if you could grow this outside the body.

Now it's early days, uh no baby's been born yet through this mechanism.

Uh it did perform

like regular IVF in terms of getting the embryos to grow.

But still uh more work is needed.

But the fact that the result was so clear

Has got them all excited this may be a way.

Grow sperm outside the body for men with low sperm counts.

And this will benefit millions of couples, because all over the world, there's many millions of couples trying to have a baby.

Half of them it's because sadly the men can't make enough sperm.

This could be the way to do it.

So if this continues in terms of sperm counts falling, this could save us.

Now of course it's not ideal, is it?

Everybody having bits of their testicles taken and and and sperm growing from them.

But still, if things get really bad

It will mean that our species won't die out, which is the great thing.

Much better if we can stop the pollution or whatever's causing it.

And stop the uh the sperm count from falling anyway.

That's the that's the main thing we need to do really.

But here we have Plan C if you like, uh using this method to grow sperm in a test tube and then fertilize an egg.
