Well, let's start with what you just said, because I come from a family of those Irish civil servants.
So my grandfather was a garbage man for 40 years and a truck driver for 40 years.
He worked two jobs.
Those jobs did not change.
He stayed there because it was stability.
Exactly what you said.
And my father is very much the same way.
He was an NBC from 1984 until the day he died.
He actually signed a 12 year contract.
at mbc of course he would which was crazy right and but to him is like i like the job security i know where i'm gonna be i'm i'm happy so i totally subscribed to that for a very long time i think for me i reached a point where i was turning 30. the light at the end of the tunnel seemed to get brighter because i lost my father at 58 i lost a good friend of mine at 27.
And I didn't feel totally fulfilled.
And I knew that if I reached the pinnacle, let's say, you know, Luke Russer is hosting a Today Show or Meet the Press or whatever it is, that it would feel good for a moment.
But having played at that high level and been around the top of the top and seeing what it took, I knew that it wasn't all there for me, that that would not have made me happy.
And it's scary to feel that way because you think, my goodness, I've put someone to blood, sweat and tears into this job.
Um, and I, I will, I admit I did not toil in the local TV markets coming up.
I had a huge opportunity and advantage, but I also had a huge target on my back.
And I've talked about this with Michael, you know, when we grew up here, you said to Michael and my dad used to say to me that if your friends get caught drinking in the woods, nothing happens.
