Well, as you well know, England have managed to find different ways to fail on many different occasions over the course of my lifetime.
So you become used to the fact that from whatever position they seem to be in, they will find a way to lose it or to not get over that finish line.
And I think the difference this time around, and which is why it's led to the frustration, is that so much money was spent to bring Thomas Tuchel in as the head coach because tactically in the biggest games, on the biggest stage, it was felt that he would be the person that could get them over, get them over that line.

the the biggest issue for me the other day was and it's not just when england play it's any teams i hate seeing it happen they get in front and then they change the way they play they try and protect instead of just going and trying to to find a way to get the second goal and that's something actually that we saw spain do well against france spain got the first goal they just kept playing their game they just kept saying to france come get the ball off as we're going to keep playing
Whereas England, and having listened to a lot of former England players talk about this, they said it wasn't necessarily even right at the start of the part of the game where they sat back.
It wasn't even necessarily a coaching thing.
It's just players, you know, they see the game turn and they get nervous on the big moment and they just can't respond.
And when that happens, you just tend to drop back.
And you can't afford to do that against a team like Argentina with Lionel Messi, who can deliver those balls in from wide areas.
Yes, in my opinion, they got the substitutions wrong.
They went too defensive too early.
It had worked a few days, a few weeks earlier at the Azteca when they were down to 10 men, but they weren't playing a side with the quality of Argentina.
I would have liked to have seen them just kept going, kept trying to get that second goal.
Because, you know, at 1-0, there's always a problem.
If you try and hold on to that lead for that length of time, it's almost impossible.
So, yeah, there is a post-mortem.
And Thomas Tuchel was given an extended contract before the World Cup.
And now there are questions about whether he's the right man to lead this team going forward.
I think that'll probably all die down over the course of the next few weeks.
