He had a cannon of a throw from right field, and that hurt his elbow, and we just haven't seen him since. And they're missing him badly, right? Yeah, just another... Who knows if he's the solution, but he's a solution. He's a weapon from the left side.

And maybe the good news in all of this, maybe the good news is they feel they're going to play George Springer in left field, his first game in the field all year, and in a season where he just hasn't been that guy, hasn't been the guy that he was last season. He was arguably and probably, I'd say definitively, the MVP of the team. Yeah. Maybe that tells you that they feel, hey, he's old and he's obviously not what he was as an athlete, but he still is, at his best, a freight train of a specimen. And if we can get him going, maybe a little bit of fielding, feeling a little more part of the game. You do hear that from guys, that if they feel a little more part of the game, suddenly it unlocks the bat a little bit and they start playing better and hitting better.
And maybe that'll be the thing that sort of flips a switch for George Springer because... that would be really good news.
Which is the opposite of everything that we said last year, that making him the DH has allowed him to focus on hitting. Forget that. Right? It's a new theory. Well, no, but you have heard that before. And listen, so far this year, and maybe it's just father time catching up with him, it hasn't worked.

So it's worth a try. And like everyone has said... As much as they can go wild at the deadline, really, this season is going to be determined on the internal improvement, which is the Ross Atkins line from a couple of seasons ago that everyone hated. But it's true, at least in this scenario, that you can get whoever you want, but if Vladdy and George Springer are 700 OPS batters, It's going to be real tough to make the playoffs.
