Well, one, you know, Don is familiar, right?
So it's a story that for a significant portion of the country, it's not just familiar, but it's tiresome.
It's a song that we know.
And so as soon as we hear the first couple of notes, we immediately are tuned into it because we're familiar with the song, if you will, of this moment.
And the fact that the videos of Noah, of Nolan,
was just so genuine.
You can just tell Don, he was just a beautiful human being, like just full of love.
And in addition to everything that's been said about him by his loved ones and friends, just from the video clips, you just get a sense that this was an extraordinary young man who had such a bright future.
And so it's the familiarity of the song that we've heard in the past.
And it's also looking at this young man and mourning all the loss.
You know, that his life, the potential of his life that we would never see fulfilled now.
So for me, this is two main reasons why it captivated me and why I want to write about it.
Yeah, absolutely.
You know, it's funny.
You mentioned, you know, Trayvon Martin.
And the first person that texted me was actually my son because he was about Trayvon's age when he was murdered.
And so we were in Chicago when that happened.
And
We were in Lincoln Park, a neighborhood that you know, Don, you've lived in Chicago, and so you know it's predominantly white and affluent.
And we used to freak out when my son, who was on the track team, would run in the neighborhood with his hoodie on before the shooting.
