So that's the reason why the families have to do more.
because the gaslighting and the playing in our faces of the criminal justice system all these years has placed us in this position that we can't just blindly trust the system.
We can't just assume, even if they look like us within the system, we can't just assume that they're always going to do things proper by us.
We have to have the extra burden of making sure that we're taking care of ourselves, that we're looking after ourselves.
And it's frustrating and it makes you angry, of course,
But I almost try to be frustrated and angry, making sure I'm checking up and making sure everything's done right.
Then assume that they're looking out for me and then being blindsided by the reality that they really weren't.

Well, chances are your relatives and your lineage were part of some of the video footage that we saw, you know, during the 50s and the 60s.
Let's not play about this.
You know, like we always like to talk about eyes and a product of documentary series as if they weren't related to anybody alive today.
There are people in the same region who are related to folks we saw in those videos and all those documentaries.
like so let's be real about it this isn't just like look out for the for the black guy you know for some you know fun reason no in that part of the country in that part of the of the south you're looking out for the black guy because you understand that his life is perpetually in danger even in a fun environment things can flip in that space in a heartbeat and for them not to even have that awareness or that sensitivity with enough care for their friend to make sure
that he was covered and protected in that space i just find that absolutely appalling and again we're still waiting all the details but the one detail that is clear they did not ride or die with their brother why is it i know it's a very similar question but um the suspicion talk to me where the suspicion comes up comes from oh
You know, we have modern examples, contemporary examples of Black people being the only one in a predominantly white space, and everyone else comes back from road trips or vacations or holidays, except for the one Black person somehow mysteriously ends up dead and no one knows what happened.
You know, there's numerous cases like that.
There are numerous cases in which what the police have told us about an investigation turns out to be a little bit different than what the evidence unfolds, whether it's the autopsy of the person, whether it's the physical evidence of surrounding space, timeline, timestamps, like we have seen repeatedly the
desire to keep things calm.
usurping the desire to be factual and to make sure we have justice, right?
So there will be an impetus, a motive to not want to have all of the ugliness and horrors of something to be exposed to the public for fear of their overreaction or the proper reaction, depending upon how you feel about it.
