Like think about all the things that we did in school and how little of it really prepared us for what we want to do.
And that's everything from just fundamentally like, what are you excited about?
What do you think a career might be that you'd want to work on?
And why isn't there more opportunity to try that type of thing out?
when you're in school versus having to wait until you graduate, you know, and make decisions on that.
So it's everything from there to just some of these practical skills that we need to have.
So as an example, we had our fifth and sixth grade students this past year.
They ran a business and they decided to create a food truck at this particular location.
We live in Austin, Texas.
Austin is known as the food truck capital of the United States.
And so they said, we're going to do a food truck.
Well, as part of that, they had to kind of understand, well, what is entailed in putting together a food truck?
That was everything from learning how to buy the trailer that they were going to use, deciding how they were going to build out this food truck restaurant.
What was the materials they were going to use?
What were they going to actually cook?
For example, they decided to do breakfast foods because they thought the profit margin on breakfast food is higher than other meals.
Then, of course, they had to actually learn how to cook.
They had to budget and figure out pricing on all this.
And they had to learn communication and teamwork skills because when you're in a food truck and you've got orders coming in, you've got your line cook, you've got your customer service person, you've got your marketing people.
You have to be able to communicate.
