And so we begin the novel with Lena in a state of, you know, maternal disarray.
because she's trying to work out what's happening with her child if her child is in some kind of form of psychosis or if she is just really imaginative.
And she finds she's going around to doctors trying to work out what's happening and everyone's dismissing her, you know, kind of female paranoia.
And there's a lot about motherhood in this novel.
So that's the original hook.
But then it becomes something a lot larger as Campbell is really thinking about early motherhood as something that totally...
waves over your brain in a way that your mind becomes just something different than it was before and every waking thought this woman has is about her child and how she is going to provide a life for her child and then it's set in the context of Ireland and Dublin in particular going through you know the post bubble bursting in the economy there's no housing jobs are hard to come by and you know how does one make a life that's really the question.
Yeah, the sentences are gorgeous.
The mundanity of Monday is a great combination of words.

And yet the way that it's written is kind of like a ghost story with this creeping sense of unease.
And we kind of sometimes forget about Sonny's like strange apparitions of death for a while.
And then we're very much brought back into them.
And they kind of, they modulate the novel.
