So there was a lot of pitches that missed outside of the strike zone.

And then when you're missing there and you don't get the swings and misses necessarily when they're taking those pitches, then you almost have to go back to either different pitches or try to locate that sinker up.

Um and the hits that he did give up off of the sinker yesterday were just to me misses more in the middle part of the strike zone.

So I I still think it's a great pitch.

Like if he's gonna go out there and and and at times if you're gonna get beat on a pitch, I almost feel like you wanna get beat on that pitch just because it is so good.

Um I wouldn't be surprised if we see the sinker usage go up again in his next start.

Uh but uh but yeah, I just i it it's it's one of those pitches where as a batter you have to anticipate where it's going to end up when you swing and that's uh definitely easier said than done when the pitch is coming in there at ninety six, ninety seven.

I I still think it's a good pitch against lefties too because he can throw like he can he can start it on the um the lefty side of the plate and also I was gonna say it probably looks like it's gonna hit the batters and then by the time you decide you don't wanna swing at it, it it ends up working its way back over the plate.

It's not a pitch that he necessarily has to get a ton of swings and misses on because you can get those weak ground outs.

Um and I think that was a uh one of the points that that Caleb was making during the game last night was instead of going for for the strikeout at times, just getting the weak ground out because uh there was a point where he was he was had a really high clip of first pitch strikes in the game.

He was getting to two strike counts, it was just finishing off the batters.

Uh so just being able to continue to to work

work that pitch and get ground ball outs and the defense is playing well behind you, let them make those plays.

Sometimes you just tip your cap and you go, Oh like you're either going up there swinging because you're just going up there hacking or you think it's a ball and then you realize that it's just clipped the outside part of the zone and there's just nothing you can do about it.
