They came back in 25 when both the Spectrum Center was back online and the Carolina Theta was open and they said, we like what we see.
A milestone step was when Steve informed me that, hey, they're going to apply for the state funding.
I informed the mayor and the manager that they're going to apply for state funding.
When they received state funding and they got it the week of Christmas, I looked at a text.
I text the manager on Christmas Day thanking him for the rum cake that his wife baked and say, oh, by the way,
they got the state funding, almost $950,000.
In January, when they said they were coming to the city to make a decision, a milestone point, I informed the mayor and the manager that they were coming, and Mr. Mitchell at that point,
because he was then the new chairman of the AD committee, that they had made a decision that they wanted to embrace Charlotte and they were coming to the city.
So those milestone decisions in terms of steps along his process, there was nothing for the city to do other than me as the chairman that now former chairman of the Economic Development Committee is to foster the relationship with them,
while Steve and Mr. Bagwell book the business.
I think there are a number of ways that we can support them being successful in Charlotte.
Being a financial partner will be one of them.
For sure.
Right.
And I submit to you that I think we should be a financial partner, and that's a discussion that we need to have with the manager that we probably won't resolve today.
And the military gangs will be asking us for money.
A process to recruit events.
And funding.
It's fun.
