So I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing.

Like to, you know, like, of course you should be proud of your culture or whatever, but like, like, and like, it's not, obviously it's not that good to be only seek validation from outside.

But at the same time, I did kind of think, like, it is good to be, you know, conscious of what's happening outside of here and, you know, like, have that kind of, like, natural curiosity and, like, and kind of appreciation for overseas as well.

So, yeah, I didn't think it was a bad thing.

And I kind of grew up, like, as well in the cusp of, like,

I would say like in the 90s and 2000s, there was this whole idea of like this remix culture and youth culture in general was very interested in consuming things from overseas and kind of experimenting with self-expression and things like that.

So it was a pretty interesting time in terms of like youth cultures and subcultures and popular culture in general, I'd say.

Yeah.

The thing with Australia, it's actually really close.

So if I was moving to, like, you know, somewhere really, really far, then I might have thought about it more deeply.

But just because the proximity to Japan and there's no time difference and a lot of my friends in Australia, like, they travel so much.

So even now, like, I still see my Australian friends.

so um and they all come for snowboarding and stuff like that so musical yeah little sydney it's like all filled with aussies yeah but um but i don't like rather than missing the country i miss my friends like the people so as long as i can see them i don't feel homesick so what did you decide to to study at the time here in japan

Um, I was doing like info tech, which is kind of random, um, because I didn't really know what to do.

So, um, um, and basically like, um, cause my Japanese proficiency wasn't great.

So I just needed to do something I could get into.

So that was like what I ended up doing.

Um, but somehow the professors were like, I was at Tokyo university and the professors were like, so great.

Like there was so, so it was such a nice community and I'm really glad I went there actually.
