What happens now is most students are sitting there and they'll all be saying that, hey, I'm nervous to say what's on my mind.

But here's the secret.

Everyone is nervous.

And so when everyone is nervous, right, it's like, can you actually create a space where people can show up and engage and actually listen and have those conversations?

So the secret is that you're not alone.

Yeah.

I mean, when we started BridgeUSA at Berkeley and college chapters across the country, when we had those protests, because a speaker came to campus named Milo Yiannopoulos, and you had massive violence and you had massive upheaval.

And by the way, I was a pre-med student.

I had no interest in politics or democracy or any of this stuff.

I showed up and those protests sort of changed the way in which I approached the next few years because of just how...

insane it was to me that people across the political spectrum felt so convicted and they felt so much distrust with each other that they were going to leave class and get out there and challenge each other physically.

And

I bring this up because I had a hypothesis with some of my friends at that time, which was that the loudest voices that are dominating this conversation right now do not represent the majority of students.

And this goes exactly to our point is that how do we elevate nuance?

How do we privilege it?

How do we elevate it above outrage?

Because there's this outrage industrial complex right now, I think that prioritizes craziness.

And I think shows like yours are key because we can actually be able to have these conversations and students listen and engage and they say, okay,

There are people that can actually represent sane concepts and thoughts.

Man, I don't want to be the arbiter of human mistrust across the board, but here's my hypothesis.
