And I think that we've built up a world in which the problem, to me, honestly, is not division.

Like, we should have disagreements.

We've got to fight things out.

That's how democracies work.

So it's not some, like, kumbaya prescription to stop having, you know, divides.

I think the problem today is that the loudest voices dominate the conversation.

And because the loudest voices dominate the conversation, the rest of us are completely silent and exhausted.

And so I think young people have the sense of mistrust because their view of someone that supports President Trump or their view of someone that supports, let's say, Vice President Harris in the last election is what they get on their social media feeds.

And you know this better than I do that what you get on your social media feeds, the incentive structure there is not nuanced, productive engagement.

It's not trying to change your mind.

It's I'm going to say the craziest shit out there to get you to like this video.

Yes, yes, yes.

I think everyone across the political spectrum can agree with 100% of what you just said.

And here's where I think there's the hope because oftentimes these conversations will end with like, well, the incentives sort of reward craziness.

So I guess that's it, right?

And here's the hope that I have.

I think that because almost everybody listening agrees with everything that you just said, because I think most people believe in open-mindedness, they believe in...

building relationships they're exhausted by the status quo again republican democrat really does not matter in my view um people are tired i think that the majority of people are on the side of open-minded conversations the majority of people are on the side of connection and i think what people have to remember is that they actually build the incentive structure like we're the ones that click on the crazy video it's not ultimately of course you can say you know the algorithms are built in certain ways but we reward outrageous behavior

So it's also within our power to say, if everyone around me believes in better incentive structures to be able to have these conversations, let me reward a certain type of behavior.
