OK, well, Richard is there in 1989.
And for this land, Czechoslovakia, the century leading up to the 80s, it was politically a wild ride.
The particular brand of communism practised here was very rigid.
In early 1968, there was this movement to liberalise the country.
Alexander Dubček was made the leader and he wanted to introduce sort of democratic policies.
Censorship was abolished so finally people could say what they really thought without fear.
And his reforms were called, and I love this phrase, socialism with a human face.
The problem is, it didn't last long.
Later that year, the Soviet Union took control again, and their new hardline regime clamped right down on censorship.
Just for some context here, in the wake of World War II, Germany was split, with the West administered by Allied powers, America, and the East controlled by the Soviets, leaving you a nation divided.
By 1989, people in Czechoslovakia are just dead set over the Soviet-led communist government.
People are suffering.
