So the idea, and Hoover really became, his organizing principle in his later years was anti-communism because he had taken the lessons to heart but realized that the world hadn't.

And so these materials are

you know, incredibly diverse long span and really concentrate on the political history of the 20th century.

He was 90 years old.

So up until the point that Reagan died, he had been the oldest president.

And up until the point where Jimmy Carter died, he had had the longest post-presidency.

And it's often commented that Jimmy Carter, who had this long and enormous post-presidency, also very much modeled his post-presidency in San Hoover.

There had never been a longer post-presidency up until Hoover.

And so there's this pre-presidency part of Hoover's life.

But then there's this post-presidency part of Hoover's life that I'll just say, we've

probably don't have time to get into, but Jared Cohen wrote a very good book called Life After Power that follows different post-presidencies.

And his research, academic research on Hoover's humanitarian work in his post-presidency, of course, he's laying the foundation for the Marshall Plan.

He's brought back into public life by Truman two days after Roosevelt dies.

He's just, is this elder statesman in his post-presidency, reorganizes the federal government.

He does outlive John F. Kennedy, sadly.

And this is another piece of the narrative that's wrong, but Hoover and the Kennedys were quite close.

So Joe Kennedy was a dear friend of Herbert Hoover's.
