I know what it's like to not have a lot of money.
And I know that this is a lot of money compared to that.
And I should probably not just spend it all.
So it was, I would say, full of emotions, right?
Like gratitude, guilt, and then also like trying to overcome like impulses to just get what I want because I have money for the first time.
So yeah, I think it's like definitely unique to first gens who, like me,
are thinking about their families but also like you can't help thinking about what you want and what you want at the age you're at you know exactly
caring for the older generations is definitely part of my culture.
And I know it's also a big part of like other immigrant cultures.
We are like very intergenerational and very much about interdependence.
And so yeah, I think even then I was thinking about my parents are aging.
Even though I was in my early 20s, few people are thinking about this.
I think for most people, this fear, this worry starts being kind of sprung up on you when you're in your 30s or 40s and you can see your parents having issues and needing assistance and help.
For me, I was already thinking about it because I knew that my parents had been helping my grandparents and now we're helping my
their parents, sorry, my grandparents, their parents still.
And so I knew that this was sort of a tradition.
There was only so much 50K could get me, right?
So I started by focusing on myself and just getting the basics down of like budgeting, saving, investing, paying off student loans I had, and learning how to manage my credit.
