So he went in on the Friday morning.

He got there really early so that he could be in and out quickly.

And he just didn't get out of there for two and a half weeks.

They had so many tests to do.

And at first they thought it was probably gallstones because it just was a typical presentation of that.

And then further scans showed that he had something going on behind his bile duct that was causing it to be sort of inflamed and blocked.

And that's what was making him go yellow.

It was kind of a nerve wracking time.

And I remember him saying to me, I just hope I'm not, you know, really sick.

Like, I don't feel I've done enough.

I'm not ready to be.

I'm not finished looking after you all.

That's what he said.

And it really struck a chord with me.

he didn't get out for the communion he didn't get out for the communion no that must have been devastating for all of you it was so bizarre because he was the most involved person in everything he was this central planner of stuff like that he was head of the barbecue it was so weird for him not to be there and it was quite shocking it was like god this is very dramatic of him isn't it to miss it this way upsetting probably very upsetting yeah and to have those photos without him as well and I just thought we'll have to do this again now when he's out tomorrow or something

Because we had no idea that he'd still be in.

We thought he might get out that evening.

And as the days went on, we were thinking, OK, well, he's not coming home then until next week, maybe.

Right.
