James was how he should have been all his life, really.

Yeah.

So we were filling our time.

He was bringing the kids to matches left, right and centre.

We'd go and see Galway United.

Little trip stays out.

One time we were in Westport and he had to leave us to go for a PET scan just to see that the treatment was still going OK.

and i took the kids down for a pizza and i had to order a table for four and it really struck me at that time because this could be our lives now i might have to order a table for four in the future if this doesn't work out and it just really hit me and i'm trying to be there for the kids but also i'm upset it was tough that was really tough and he came back and the doctor rang us from london and said look this scan is showing that the treatment has actually stopped working

So we were on our little break in Westport at that time.

Again, quite shocked because there's no reason.

One minute it had been going so well and the next minute it just stopped working.

And the doctor didn't seem that interested in sort of the next steps.

James was saying, well, what do we do now?

Do we just keep going with the drug to prolong my life or what?

And we just felt a bit sort of out in the cold.

The doctor said, you might get a trial.

There is one in London actually.

that could give you a chance.

And we said, could that be curative?

He said, yeah, it could be.
