But he needed me more.

So I had to just prioritise that this was a short term thing.

Yeah.

And I'd support them.

So hard though, isn't it?

Incredibly hard, yeah.

The long hugs and the goodbyes were the hardest bit.

They would be leaving in tears sometimes.

It was just awful.

And the lowest part of our day was just after the kids had left.

We'd kind of be sitting there just looking at each other, kind of miserable and always wondering, are we doing the right thing?

Which is a really hard position to be in.

So as the time went on and he was losing consciousness a bit more, everybody was visiting him, you know, kind of saying goodbyes, I suppose, in a way.

But every time the kids came in, even up to the last time, he was able to give them a hug to just lift his hand and put it on their back.

And so he was aware that they were there, which was so lovely.

And we were kind of with him around the clock.

I was with him all the time.

And we had asked the kids if they want to be there when he was going to pass away, if we could tell when it was going to happen.

And Owen and Ben, the eldest two, said, yeah, definitely, please get us in.

And Joey didn't want to.
