The players, when they've been to the really big games as often as what Brisbane have, and what are they, you know, seven years in the finals in a row, they've won two, they've made a grand final.

I think they were in two prelims before that.

You know, there's a level of stimulation that you've got to get yourself to.

And sometimes it gets hard to get there.

And so whether that's...

It's been the case a couple of times, whether that's GWS and whether it's Carlton.

But that level of stimulation is there once the big games come around.

I lived it a little bit.

In Adelaide in 98, we finished fifth and we won 13 games to qualify.

And yet once the finals come around, we just sort of felt like, you know what?

Let's just break this down.

You're going to have to win four games to win the flag again.

And when you've got those great memories and you know and you've got the belief that you can do it, you actually can get yourself organised for a month or two.

And I just feel like that's where Brisbane, that's the territory they're about to enter.

Just injuries.

We had, I reckon, six blokes that had groin operations.

We had stress fractures.

One of the things, between Neil Craig and Malcolm Blight, we trained really, really hard.

And the first year Blighty arrived, we did a 13-week pre-season and set a new benchmark in fitness levels.
