But in reality, GPS sucks.

It doesn't really work very well.

It's not accurate.

Sort of one to 10 meters is the best you're going to get.

And then it's completely unsecure.

So it's easy to spoof and you can't actually rely on the data because you just don't know whether someone has been playing with that satellite to manipulate you.

And that is a really challenge for our autonomous future.

You don't want to be driving or not driving an autonomous vehicle that is meters out in its accuracy.

That's you driving down the wrong way of the freeway.

So this next generation GPS that's happening right now, a company called Zona, which is a Californian business, they've developed a low Earth orbit GPS network.

It's centimeter accurate.

And it's built from bottom up to be military grade secure.

So this is what our autonomous future requires.

Autonomous cars, autonomous drones, all of the robots that we're going to be relying on increasingly, humanoids, all of them need that accurate GPS capability.

If you think about sort of your Waymos with all these sensors around the car, you can't take those sensors and put them onto a drone.

You can't take those sensors and put them onto a robot.

It just doesn't work.

We need the GPS to be more reliable, more accurate.

And guess what?
