Because of the scope and breadth of not only the investigation that had taken place at the federal level, but the number of civil lawsuits, it's impossible for Donald Trump's name not to be in there.
Now, the question is, is he in there as an actual suspect?
We don't know.
It's fair to think that there are some people who might have accused him.
But by and large, there wasn't obviously enough actionable because he never got charged.
He could have been charged by Merrick Garland's...
Department of Justice, he wasn't.
But that's just us sort of surmising of what's there.
But we always surmised, and the White House surmises, and accurately so, that his name was always in the files.
And apparently he was told this at a certain point.
And the reason the White House doesn't want to deal with this is that Donald Trump doesn't want to deal with this.
And this administration, like all of them, or perhaps to a greater degree than all of them, just revolves around the star of the president.
And if the president doesn't want to deal with something, no one wants to deal with it.
There's a quote I'm paraphrasing in there from the story where they say something like this is going to piss off the president and a pissed off Donald Trump is no fun for anybody.
And so now we have many days later, the Wall Street Journal has reported about that specific meeting apparently took place in May.
The Wall Street Journal is also reporting that there's no.
Evidence that they have so far that shows that Donald Trump was considered a legitimate suspect and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
But the fact is, if you are listed as a friend of a child sex offender, it's not good.
And it's going to wind up in headlines.
Hence these headlines.
