If you're not a big brand
It seems a lot of smaller companies aren't able to really get onto the uh Baidu uh sorry on the Google SERP right now. 'Cause it's just back in the day I could see that no brands could really get there.
It looked like Baidu was almost trying to monetize and force large companies to pay buy ads because it was mainly user generated content and ratings, reviews, sites and some information sites that ranked well for a lot of like transactional terms.
And further, what I found is the buyer journey.
Like people in Baidu, when I first started doing SEO, they don't in China didn't go they still don't go to Baidu to look for things to start shopping.
They don't start shopping on Baidu.
They go to Talbau or Al Alibaba or you know JD, which is like Best Buy.
They're going to these retailer sites, these shopping verticals.
Much like I've now noticed the trend happening in North America where people just before COVID really started to switch over to Amazon.
Amazon for for many types of products and also best by and they start searching there first and then often check
Once they figure out what they want to buy, they're just checking the details, the specs, ratings, reviews, and some information like from Tom's hardware and all these other seeing out checking out the specs and reputation of the products and the company on the search engine and then going back to wherever they started shopping to to pull the trigger and to purchase.
So I just saw that trend, you know, more than a decade ago in China.
And I'm now seeing it happen here.
So I don't g history doesn't repeat, but it definitely rhymes.
So I can just see that is uh sort of the arc of what I've seen happen over the past decade.
We've always just made the case that well Google really is I mean, obviously the a global search engine, perhaps the most advanced, and they often are very transparent with the guidance, even though awkwardly now we now know that they're not bad they weren't that transparent.
