If he does become the nominee and if he does and then maybe a senator, AIPAC needs to do some soul searching here about how they spent that money because he talks about it all the time.
It's hard to quantify how much benefit in dollars he's getting with that message.
But I bet it's more than AIPAC spending.
If he wins, they may be pouring that down a red hole and they may have fueled his victory by virtue of spending the money and allowing him to talk about the fact.
Well, you're right that they've been more moderate, more centrist candidates of both parties.
But he's also different because he's not white.
He's Arab and he's Muslim.
I'd say that's part of his appeal to some progressives.
Tens of millions of Americans and millions in Michigan don't want the status quo.
And to have a young Arab Muslim outsider who's run for office but not held office, who speaks, like Bernie Sanders in AOC, of radical, fundamental change in America—
That's why someone who doesn't, quote unquote, look like demographically and issues, that's why he has a chance to win this.
People shouldn't write off the prospect that he will win the general election.
And being the nominee against the establishment choice endorsed by the governor, endorsed by senators, endorsed by establishment money like AIPAC,
That's an extraordinary achievement if he pulls it off.
And it's an achievement that comes with someone who does not look like other people who've been elected in that state.
And that, for the people supporting him, that's a big part of why they like him.
They want someone different.
Because like Trump supporters in 2015 and 2016, they're for anybody who will roll into Washington with sticks of dynamite on their cabs, ready to blow the place up and start over.
That's what Donald Trump promised and he won.
That's what this guy is promising.
