It was the Fox Sports Athlete of the Week, and me –

the now late great Rich Emmert and Joe Bendel all auditioned for the role of handing out the athlete of the week.

How do you audition for a role of handing out?

I don't know.

You had to go on TV and you had to have the athlete with you and give them the award.

And I won.

And that was the first time I ever went on TV.

I was a nervous wreck.

But one of the first times was on the show down with you.

First published story was the Norwin girls soccer team, very successful back in 19, probably 91.

That was my first byline in a major American newspaper.
