This is going completely the other way because.
because Super 8 footage is, we all know what Super 8 looks like.
Usually Super 8 is accompanied by the word grainy, you know, grainy super 8.
But it's to do with.
Using that lo-fi thing to go beyond showing something to making it more abstract and experiential.
And I would say that Supernature, as I said, it's not a nature documentary as such.
It is a kind of audio-visual tone poem.
And it's all held together by the voices, and uh there's an original score by Alexander Hamilton Ayers, and this sort of
Some sound effects in there, but they've they're all fairly gentle and kind of abstract.
There's none of that.
You know, what we were talking about one of the big nature docs recently, and I said the thing that bothered me was there was this harumphing score that was literally telling you to be impressed every second.
You don't get that here.
What you get is this kind of bittersweet.
Rather melancholy, also very beautiful film about the world around us and about how fragile it is, but also how weirdly resilient it is, and about our relationship with it.
And tied into that is also stuff about personal loss, personal family loss, um, your relationship to your family and to your relatives and to
To the wider tribe of people and the world around you.
The problem is, I know that when I start talking about this, I sound like I'm doing a kind of pastiche of some sort of you know great big, you know, pantheistic ooga booger stuff, which I'm I tend to be kind of quite cynical about.
But honestly, I watch supernature in a real trance.
I I loved it.
There is something about the medium, and what I love.
