Viennese Modernist, whose novel, Traum Novelle, was the basis of Stanley Kubrick's last and worst film.

And I'm sorry, I'm not having anything of the reappraisal of Eyes Wide Shut.

And this is much better than Eyes Wide Shut.

It is directed by Kent Jones, who was the director of that documentary, Hitchcock Trufo.

Producer credits include Christine Vaschon, Marc Scorsese, so it's a very high-caliber roll call.

Willem Defoe, Willem Dafoe, who many moons ago came on the show and was an absolutely terrific guest.

Remember, he came on to discuss Antichrist and he was just brilliant.

We had a very, very good to and fro with him.

Anyway, so he is Ed Saxburg, who's a postal worker in Manhattan.

Leads uh heads down, uh getting on with his job existence.

He meets his local pals in the bar, plays pool, fails to pick up the phone to his sister, who keeps ringing to tell him that their brother is generally unwilling.

Well, until one day he is accosted outside his apartment by this wealthy NYU grad hipster Myers, played by uh Edmund Donovan, who says that he is the center of a poetry movement called the Enthusiasm Society, and they revere.

Ed Sacksberger as a god because years and years ago, many decades ago, he published a volume of poetry called Way Past Goat, which was pretty much ignored, and he then moved on and just became a postal worker.

But this is now their Bible.

This is going to be the late fame of the title.

So this group of uh hipster poets, their anti-mobile phones, their anti-lethargy, modern disengagement, they want to shake up the world with their exciting poetry and essays, and they adore Sacksberger.

They are all

Rich Nincom poops, but flattery is a very powerful thing, and soon he finds himself coming to their meetings and agreeing to front a happening which they are going to launch for their manifesto.
