No one really sort of had oh they took a rifle just in case uh dogs got chewed up.

were like you know, you uh you got a beer if you earned it.

You know, and um you know, when I remember we sort of as soon as we went in the sheds it was all big bots, you know, there was no little cans or anything like that.

So you you had to learn to drink, but you had to learn to actually like like work hard, you know, especially if you're doing those big days five to fives in the shed and or fencing and things like that.

So yeah, you worked hard and then you you you got a beer.

But the beer was also managed, you know, by the parents and

Uh I started reading a few books and uh as a young guy and see those commando magazines around a bit and uh I thought that was pretty neat.

Uh granddad was uh on dad's side.

He he could chat a bit, not too much.

Ma my other granddad he didn't speak about the war.

Then we had a few friends that were very good.

Yeah, it was, yeah.

But sadly he was in the he's a PAW for about three years.

Uh but he was he was in uh he wasn't he was over in uh uh Italy.

So did he

Uh, not so much.

But Grand Granddad on Dad's uh side, he he could have a little bit of a chat but nothing too gnarly.

But a few other people in the in the area did and and yeah, I was sort of fascinated with the military and then sort of sort of started to see I li I liked the some of the special force stuff that was I could s uh read about or see, goggleshell heroes and yeah and uh that sort of thing.
