And then um I was real keen to join the army and

sort of you know, try and m get that way but uh it wasn't until I found out about the SAS I saw them on uh on the T V and then I read a lot about them and then I thought I then I found out that New Zealand had the an SAS.

I thought, Oh that's me, I'll have a I'll have a crack.

Well unfortunately for me on that first day one of my boots blew out and so I finished the day bare feet and one you know, one boot was stuffed.

Uh so

It was just all bloody terraform but of uh hill country, so it was

Nah you gotta bring your own and and uh territorial guys uh like yeah no hopeless, you know we only had one set.

Yeah, so the next day uh one of the guys that uh come off the selection of course he gave me his boots and I chucked them on thought, oh a bit tight, you know what way they'll do.

And then second day on the hills just destroyed my feet from then on for the rest of the selection.

It was just a process of the blisters got worse all around my feet and my toes and then it just started r just getting really pain lines up my legs.

you know, whereas getting infection.

And so I couldn't I was taping them up uh every day.

Oh, I gave up on that.

Oh right.

Yeah, I was popping and and then uh it was just so s you know, sore.

Yeah.

So then what I do is I just just put uh tape on and uh anything that fell off put more on.

And I had my socks and then so yeah, three uh day three was super tough and then four uh we were went into the swamp and then uh the swamp is is a it's a crap place but
