And I was shocked and I think everybody else was that that happened and that fantasy actually became reality because what it exposed for us is like if in the European Union, for example, 80% of all the technology services and products and infrastructure we use is made outside the European Union.

And obviously now that dependence on the US is getting even greater.

And that, I think, is the story here, is that Europe has been shown just how dependent we have become.

And we don't have an economic sovereignty if we don't have sovereignty over AI.

We're also exposed in the case there might be a crash of some kind or a correction.

We're exposed to that as well, obviously, more in Ireland than anywhere else.

So it is a shock for us that I think...

I think it's a broader challenge as well, is that if we don't have power over the innovation that's changing the world...

then we become so much less important.

We basically get into a situation like we did back in the, you know, 50s and 60s, where it was an arms race.

U.S.

at that time versus obviously the Soviet Union.

Now it's U.S.

and China.

And we're all pawns in that great game.

Having gone from being a nation with real sense of setting the agenda, we lose power completely.

But there's something happening, I think, which is quite exciting.

So the Europeans came out with a sovereignty package.

The Commission published a set of proposals to make ourselves more sovereign.

We see individual governments like in France.
