They saw it as a big business.
And my job is to go out and exploit these new markets rather than try to build up communities that might have a beneficial impact on society.
No, I think what's happening after, let's say, 2008 or 9, we start to see internet-enabled rebellions.
If you remember the financial crash, really was legitimate grievance against the establishment, against the elite.
Democracy had lost its way.
Then on top of that, you had again and again a feeling that liberal democracy had lost its way.
The internet took that legitimate grievance.
And turbocharged it.
And so I think when we talk about the Internet's to blame for democracy's fall, it's not.
It accelerated what was an already legitimate criticism.
And so I think you have to remember back in the early days of the rebellions and Arab uprisings and you had lefting rebellions again occupy Wall Street.
And you also then had what we now see as kind of populist and right wing rebellions.
But they all came from the same real life grievance that the establishment, the elite was out of control, was not serving real people.
So I think people should keep that on their minds.
It's not just the Internet.
The Internet reflects the best and worst in society and the strongest emotions as well.
Yeah, a good example would be Twitter, for example, where we had half and half men and women using Twitter.
