You grew up in the Pilbara?

Yeah, born in Newman, so the Pilbara in WA, and my parents worked in the iron ore mine up there.

And my dad had taken work because it was a kind of high-paying job back then.

This is even well before, obviously, the mining boom.

So we started up there, and I had two brothers, and we eventually moved to Perth in Western Australia and also Geraldton.

So he joined Customs.

From there, he did a stint in customs.

He was actually an investigator in customs as well.

So, yeah, we were in coastal WA for most of my childhood.

Oh, yeah.

Yeah.

Time forgot that part of the world, but it's also pretty cool.

Yeah.

It's remote.

A lot of characters up there too.

Yeah, it was when I was – I had other ideas about a career and then in high school, but then I remember seeing –

A mate who was a bit of an army nut and he was in cadets and he had this military magazine that had the Princess Gate siege in it.

Yeah, the counter-terrorist siege.

People being rescued by the SAS in London.

And I thought, that's pretty crazy.
