There didn't appear to be anything resembling amenities, just caged in spaces.
It looked like silver mixed with something crystalline.
I almost couldn't believe my eyes.
The hole that moved between the ranks of cells terminated in a gigantic throne.
And I use the word throne with all the intended grandeur generally assigned to it.
It was unlike anything I'd ever seen.
At first glance, I took the stone for marble, but once I got close enough to know better, it was like no marble I'd ever seen.
It looked more like common granite, only of the purest white.
Almost unnaturally so.
It possessed no perceivable flaw in its composition.
No vein of darker mineral, no irregularity to its color, not so much as a single scratch across its surface.
And while I was certain the last characteristic was more the product of my imagination than the throne, and though such language is hardly befitting a serious antiquarian, I couldn't deny a sense of...
overwhelming awe.
Awe, and perhaps even fear.
After taking a moment to absorb what I was seeing, I unpacked my camera and began documenting everything in as much detail as possible.
it quickly became clear that what lay before me was beyond, far beyond my own expertise.
And I knew exactly who to call to bridge that gap.
