So I had been an artist, a lot of artists, a lot of different artists, bands, stuff like that, you know? But, you know, I got, I was just messing around with like, I got like a huge sample pack from a friend and just messing around with, you know, I never really used a lot of samples coming up. Sorry, like even like kick sample snare samples for some reason when I was like learning how to produce I'm like I have to do it myself and like layer four snares together Layer of three kicks together and you cue them all and put them in a chain But I come to find out all my peers are just using sample packs So I'm like what am I doing like this expedites so much instead of spending a day making a half a day making a kick I just drag a kick that already sounds good.

Yeah, and I remember like learning that so right around then and I just started making, I've always loved melodies, you know, like melody. And I was just writing, you know, I came from the East Coast, so, you know, there's a lot of Jersey Club over there, a lot of trap music. That's how I grew up.

But all my other music, I was like, I have to be in the studio with my keyboard and my mouse and my monitor, and it's all so fancy. You know what I mean? That's what I thought I needed. But for some reason, when I started this Marshmallow Project, I was just cranking out my own little version of Jersey Club. And Jersey Club, it's like all kicks the whole time. And that was fine.

But I also wanted to experiment with putting a snare on that third kick. So it's like... So people would... I thought maybe it'd be a little bit more mainstream, you know, because sometimes just Jersey is a little confusing. And I really liked how it sounded. And so like once I kind of did that, I feel like for like two years, all my music was just doom, doom, doom, doom, doom, doom, doom.
