So that was a tough situation.
There's a few people that talked about it, but I think even the people in Buffalo that I talked about, I was talking to a few media members and a few fans or whatnot, and they're all saying the same thing.
I get that you have to know what's happening around you.
but the buffalo sabers did not build their team to say hey you know what like montreal and detroit and ottawa and florida and tampa and montreal no they're looking to build their team so that they can take the next step as a team and whatever happens around them happens around them like for me that was a weird comment yes i get that you have to be aware of what's going on around you but
But at the same time, who cares if Buffalo was a train coming at you or Montreal?
Focus on your team.
Focus on your players.
Focus on your organization.
I think that was the biggest thing that when I talked to a few media members, it's like, yeah, it's nice that Toronto thinks that we're a train that came for them.
But at the same time, you know...
How you get back to be successful in the NHL is by not focusing on Montreal and Buffalo and Ottawa and Detroit and Boston and whatever.
It's by focusing on Toronto and what you got to do.
Yeah, they do have the pieces, right?
And I said that maybe a couple of weeks ago.
The number one piece you need to get is somebody to play with Austin Matthews.
Even two years ago when Matthews wasn't healthy, but he was still on pace for a 40-goal season.
And that's playing most of the time not healthy.
So last year, I didn't see the Auston Matthews that is dangerous with the puck when he's shooting, the areas where he's shooting from.
And the data will tell you this.
