And also one key ability that some attacking players are surprisingly bad at is...

recognizing when a player can play a pass so some players are going deep in a moment where where their teammate with the ball is under like massive pressure they are still trying to get the ball under control they're right in the duel and they are already hitting the last line and then

the teammate solves the duel and has an open foot to play deep, and then they're already in offside.

So they are not really recognizing and they're not really observing what is my teammate doing here.

So that's also a very, very important point, which is, I feel like it is fairly easy to do, but many, many players, even on high level, do this quite bad.

One thing that I want to slip in here that I just hit my mind.

We all know these situations where a really, really simple pass fails.

So like the center back plays to the fullback and the ball misses the fullback and just goes out of the game.

where I think most people tend to think these are technical errors, but from my experience on decent level, this is rarely technical.

This is most of the time is the reason that they have not correctly observed the teammate or the teammate changed their behavior right in that moment.

So the teammate goes forward, so they see they go forward, so they play into their path, right?

in front of them, and then they stop, and then the ball goes out, or the other way around.

They don't see that they go forward, so they just play where the player is, and then the ball goes right to the opponent, which is there.

So most really simple errors that look like, okay, they cannot pass, their passing technique is wrong, most of the time it's not technical, it's communication.

And I think that's a little bit what we see when we look at teams in the back five play against possession teams, where it's always very clear, okay, the possession team

Has the idea to attack one side, then switch to the other side, then quickly attack there.

And now with the Back 5 systems, the defensive teams are really well prepared to just wait for this kind of switch and they are never...

Since some of these teams, they don't put pressure on the center a lot.

But they are like, okay, the center is very, very complex.
