And to reduce savings, that basically means transferring a huge part of profits in the economy to citizens.
And that's a radical political transformation.
Then I think people would spend more.
more.
The core of Chinese savings are not household savings, they're corporate savings.
Now the none of that was going to happen.
Now along comes a really mega shock, which is, as you say, an attempt to halt Chinese exports.
Then two questions arise.
Can they find other markets?
I believe they can't, because the Europeans will not allow trade diversion from
the of the goods that used to go to the US into European markets.
So the Europeans are going to end up following the Americans on protection just to protect themselves.
And there are no other really big markets unless the Chinese decide just to give the stuff away.
Even more generous Belt and Road initiative tights up, which is sort of national suicide.
Uh so I think the protection really kills the manufacturing driven
Growth.
So there has to be a much more balanced economy.
In fact, it has to look a bit like the United States of the late nineteenth century.
What drives Chinese growth from now on has to be mass consumption by the Chinese people.
And that's made more difficult by the fact that dem demographics are so bad.
