And I don't recommend it for any news organization like the Washington Post.
Is democracy a left-coded thing?
Gee, I thought it applied to all of us.
I thought that's kind of what we aspire to in this country and what we've talked about for these 250 years.
I don't see it as a left-coded thing at all.
I mean, look, I mean, there were people on the right who, when we came up with that, they said that we were targeting the Trump administration.
But that is just not true.
We spent two years on that.
And not all of us were enthusiastic about death and darkness being in our motto anyway.
So it had nothing to do with Donald Trump.
And look, when Trump lost the election in 2020 and was out of office in 2021 and for four years thereafter, there were readers who contacted us saying it's time to get rid of that motto right now.
And we said no.
This is a motto that applies to whatever administration is in office at the time.
And they've held on to that.
And I think that's good.
I just want them to be faithful to that motto, to keep faith with the spirit behind that statement.
Right.
Well, you know, I joked in the book that I thought with the 10,000 year clock, he should give the post the same kind of runway.
He'd like to talk about giving us runway.
