And it really might have helped the party going into the by-elections where they're looking likely to win a seat in Galway West and their candidate there, Noel Thomas, was to the forefront of the protests and demonstrations there.

But then they got into this row about misogyny in the Dáil and the way they spoke to some women TDs.

If you look at a by-election context and their candidate in Galway West, Noel Thomas, needs transfers, he cannot rely on only the protesters and that vote.

In a by-election, you have to be a broader church.

And did his TDs, who are already elected in his party, sort of let him down, maybe?

Yeah, and holding votes at 1am and debates at 2 o'clock in the morning isn't really going to help that any more than people shouting down TDs.

And just one man who was subject to something of a put down in the Dáil, Patrick O'Donovan, and that burn from Ivana Bacik over his criticism of media coverage.

It wasn't just hello, Patrick O'Donovan.

It was also hello, Jim Gavin, who chose the most bizarre moment in politics to make his comeback.

It's the first we heard from him since...

He bowed out of that presidential race in some very embarrassing circumstances.

And for so long, journalists have been wondering when he'd make his comeback, what he would have to say, any skeletons that he might unearth or anything that he might want to say about Fianna Fáil.

But he did his interview and news talk and it was all a bit of nothing, wasn't it?

And maybe just a reminder of why his campaign was so ill-fated in the first place.

But I think we leave that there.

It's a full circle moment, Jim Gavin making his comeback at a time where those ructions are emerging once again within Fianna Fáil.
