That's definitely it.
I mean, we've seen some weirdness in the job market, particularly for entry-level positions.
That logic would say, you know, might be some tip of the spear AI automation stuff.
You know, I think also the industry kind of has to wear this for just spending the last, you know, three or four years saying AI is going to be able to do
every job in the next two or three years, right?
Kind of really painting a picture, you know, a self-interested one for them, but of a real kind of dire job market future.
So, you know, for these kids about to drop into the big old labor pool, that is not a welcome message.
So Microsoft has responded in the way that they tend to do when the tech industry courts controversy, and that is to
to kind of emphasize their own humanity, right?
There's a bit of a sales pitch to, of course, Microsoft is selling its own AI services, but they think they can strike a reasonable pose, and they think they have a position here that's a little less absolutist than some of the AI labs and saying, you know, listen, we're at the beginning of this transition.
It's going to take a whole long time.
None of this history is any guide.
We've got a ways to go, and people will have time to adapt.
He made just that point.
He, as he tends to do, he looked back into history and talked about the invention of photography and said, you know, that didn't put all of the painters out of business.
Like, he'll be the first to admit that's kind of an oversimplified analogy.
But the larger point is, you know, this is a journey.
Humans historically have found other things to do when new technologies showed up.
And that AI probably won't be as different.
