But it cannot thrive if Western countries are too poor, you know, or too wrapped up in their own wars to buy Chinese cars and washing machines.
So they need the export markets.
They cannot sell enough of the stuff that they produce to their own people.
And they have become
the world's factory.
And they need to sell to the world in order for that factory to keep churning over and creating the kind of growth rates that keep Chinese people happy.
Because ultimately I think the Chinese government is more afraid of its own people turning against them than they're afraid of America or certainly Russia.
So there's a kind of pragmatism in China.
Yes, they will supply electro microchips to the Iranians to build their drones.
Yes, they will help Russia
build, you know, its military, which is what they're doing.
in a kind of client relationship where the Russians are definitely the junior partner, but I don't think they want this to blow up globally.
Because that would be bad for China.
And I hate to say it, but at the end of the day, they are the only designated adults in the superpower Game of Thrones left.
You know, they are the ones.
And, you know, I wouldn't want to live in modern China myself.
I think it's it's surveillance capitalism at its most extreme.
Um and if you put stuff on your on your social media page that's critical of the government, you know, you might be finding it very difficult to fill your car with petrol or electricity.
But that's not the kind of place I want to be in.
But they are still more sensible when it comes to geopolitics than Trump's Vitos or Putin's Kremlin.
