And then there were other atlets like The Guardian, um, or I don't know, Channel Four News Food, which I represent, where we kind of looked at both sides of the story and I had a debate
just about ten days ago with a one of the white academics who thought that he'd been over promoted.
And I had a debate with one of
his you know black academic friends who was pr but defending him
And I have to say we you know, what the conclusion that we all came to is that both things can be true.
You can be both hunted.
uh down by the right wing media.
You can both be subject to a vicious campaign, you know, that is frankly, um, inspired by racism and and you can be imperfect as an academic.
You can have made things up, you can be
You know, a bit of a fantasist.
Um, and um that's what his even his friends were saying.
But I think what they what they also would add is that
this treatment that he received was just not the kind of treatment that you would get if you were a white professor.
You know, and then there are a couple of examples of white professors of history or other subjects at Cambridge University who were also accused of plagiarism and who are still very much imposed and teaching.
So there are double standards there, I think.
Um
And you know, again, as they point out.
If the DEI thing has gone to such an ex excess and that you know black academics are being promoted beyond their levels of ability, which is the accusation, then how come only one percent
of of uh of all the academics uh at Cambridge are black.
